My name is Richard Sapida, and I am a passionate storyteller who specializes in generating concepts for suspense and horror narratives.
My professional career in film began in 2019 while I was working as a commercial actor for a Filipino restaurant. That early experience working on cinematic videos sparked my love for visual storytelling, eventually leading me to meet director Santiago Larrauri in 2021. Together, we co-founded the Pembina Valley Filmmakers Forum, which has proudly evolved into Pembina Valley Studio.
The project that truly defined my journey was the short film, "The Visit." I developed the original concept for the story, and Santiago directed it. This was a pure passion project—a minimalist, low-budget production where Santiago and I collaborated intensely, acting as both the cameraman and the on-screen talent. "The Visit" went on to win an award at Film Freeway, which was an incredible validation of our collaborative, "two-man army" approach.
As a member of the studio, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as Assistant Director and behind-the-scenes director on several projects, including Moving On, Cracked, and The Last Show. Most recently, I took a major step forward: thanks to Erjan Leroy Nurhassen, I was given the chance to direct my first short film, the action title "The Last Ride," which I’ve just submitted to Film Freeway. I continue to focus on creating new, suspense-driven concepts for our upcoming feature-length film projects.
My Assistant Director, Erjan Leroy Nurhassen, and I held a brainstorming session to develop this story. We exchanged ideas to make my debut film as a director more interesting and intriguing for the audience.
