The Lark Descending

An abstract musical journey through improvisation, identity and spirituality. The band Ode form to tell a story of revolution, but not as you expect it.

This project began as a short story, and developed into a music direction for a band of improvisors and wellbeing practitioners. The project then naturally developed into a film, album and series of events that took place in Liverpool between 2022 and its final concert on the 9th May 2025.

Part one of the film is a dark and misty beginning of a project full of hope and forward thinking ideas. Part two explores the members of the band and their effect on the writer of the project, part three of the film (to be filmed during the concert on the 9th of May) will finish the project, showing the hope, joy and weirdness of abstract, improvised art.

The stop motion animations and odd editing ideas are the most unique aspect of the project, and all belong quite uniquely to the writer, Oliver Hudson.
