Milton Muller is a filmmaker and Visual Effects Artist based in the Okanagan in British Columbia. After over two decades working in the visual effects industry, he makes his directorial debut with The Keepers, a personal short film developed and produced with his wife and two children and many others who poured their love for film and community into this!
Milton’s lifelong love of science fiction began before he could even walk—his parents took him to see Star Wars at just three months old, a detail he later discovered in a baby book. That early spark grew into a career spent crafting visual worlds behind the scenes, and now fuels his transition into directing, where storytelling and imagery meet with intention.
With The Keepers, Milton brings his VFX expertise into a more intimate, emotional context, exploring themes of memory, connection, and legacy. His work aims to combine the visual wonder of genre filmmaking with grounded, human stories rooted in family and place.
What started out a year and a half ago as a fun idea with my family, to shoot a short film in the garage, very quickly evolved into a full indie production at Kelowna Film Studios in Kelowna, BC, with a small, passionate crew on an epic 2 day shoot.
I'm also excited to be a part of the return of Canadian acting legend Michael Hogan of Battlestar Galactica fame! After sustaining a major brain injury and stroke he's worked hard to recover and we were able come alongside and do that with him using innovation from my career as a visual effects artist. This short film is Hogan's first on screen appearance since the accident and we are proud to have empowered him in that particular way.
If you can't create something you love with those you love, and who love you, then why create it at all?
