The Jiggle Physics Manifesto

The Jiggle Physics Manifesto is a sci-fi surrealist sketch about an alien who is doing her graduate thesis about 21st century internet culture. Her specific focus is on the archived remnants of ancient people’s conversations about Jiggle Physics on the internet. Jiggle Physics is the art of digitally rendering the movement of breasts in video games and animation. The video straddles tropes found in Youtube video essays and ASMR videos.

Director Statement

Jiggle physics is the art of digitally rendering the movement of breasts in video games and animation. Movement in video games is usually a sequence of animations that are either responsive to the user’s input (jumping, running, kicking), or ambient (swaying trees, flowing water, and most importantly: jiggling breasts).

Video game breasts often become so over animated that they develop a personality of their own, independent from the character they’re attached to. “The Jiggle Physics Manifesto” is the investigation of this anthropomorphization, told from the point of view of an alien trying to understand human civilization through this strange animation practice.

The video provides commentary and touches on themes of “Gamergate”: a controversy in the video game community/industry where lgbtq and women gamers (game designers, streamers etc.) were the targets of an online harassment and doxxing campaign by men. This video is an ode to the individuals who made challenging critiques ahead of their time and an adoption of the practice and strategies of the victims of Gamergate.
