When I’m feeling especially stressed or anxious, one of the things I’ve found that helps is driving around in the middle of the night. I love the way that being in public spaces at night makes them feel new and alien.
This project came from making up stories about the few other cars I do see on those drives, and since I’m usually in a weird place when I’m out there — I tried to imbue the story with that weird-place-feeling. It’s maybe even an attempt to gain power over that feeling. Like “You’re not anxiety. You’re an opaque sci-fi short.”
