Director Statement

With this film I wanted to explore the nature of how we craft our personas, especially in a romantic context. Sometimes there are things outside our control where we are perceived in ways that go against how we view ourselves. Or, perhaps they reveal something we wish we'd forget.

In a queer context how we view ourselves can be at odds with how society perceives us. Especially in how it imposes views on our sexuality. In an online world there can be dozens of judgments made before anyone gets to know you.

This film is too short to explore the depth of that idea, but I became enamoured with how a first date would go when something is revealed that one person had no control over. No matter how well crafted you've made your persona be since that event, there can still be a sting felt. Especially when a potential lover has proven to be somebody who caused you great pain.
