Director Biography - Hunter Williams

Hunter Williams is a young director/storyteller from Auckland, New Zealand and currently based in Los Angeles. Hunter has a passion for creating films that tell stories of the human experience and believes that these can lead to positive social change. Creating films since age 8, his skills and talent have grown, allowing Hunter to foster empathy within his audience.

Hunter’s films have screened in cinemas from Auckland all the way to Times Square, New York. He has a Diploma in Filmmaking and was accepted as one of forty international youth leaders to attend the Global Youth Summit in Zurich, Switzerland. In 2016 he was also awarded a New Zealand Film Commission Film-making Achievement Award. His social enterprise, Focal Projects, has worked with some of New Zealand’s leading organisations to create meaningful video content. The company seeks to sustainably tell the important stories of our society. In 2019, Hunter was named as a Global Teen Leader by Nile Rogers’ We Are Family Foundation and travelled to New York to attend the Just Peace Summit.
