Tang Shimeng is an independent director living in Shenzhen, China. She speaks both Chinese and English.
She graduated from Meishi Film Academy of Chongqing University. During her university years, she was deeply captivated by film. After completing her studies, she entered the film industry as a producer assistant. During this time, she developed the idea of becoming a film director. She began writing scripts and working in the fields of advertising and television documentaries to honing her skills as both a director and screenwriter.
In 2021, she completed her first original short film “A Sunny Autumn”, which was praised by international friends and local audiences for its unique approach, described by a Korean artist as ‘something no one has ever done before.’
In June 2025, she completed the music video for her original French song "Shimeng, la béatitude de l’extase”.
In October 2025, she completed her second short film - her first French language film shot in France - “La maison des ruines”, which won the Best Plot prize at the Chambal International Film Festival 2026.
She is going to prepare her third original short film “A Poem in the Scorching Summer” as well as her debut feature “Shut up, Listen to the Birds”.
This film is inspired by the eponymous poem of Michel Saja. I was really touched when I read this poem. And I was also really touched by his love to his house, even it’s in ruins. He suffered a lot in life, but he never give up. He still loves life and his brother who even never wanted to see him. He is such a precious soul to this world. I appreciate that. I want to share this feeling in my film. And I hope more people will get to know him through this film.
