The Hip Hop Composer: From Dj To Super Producer

One day while working in my studio, I started to think about all the music I had created or been apart of, I was overwhelmed at the staggering amount of productions I had been involved with, and all I could think of was: “Wow, this is incredible.”

Immediately, I had flashback to my college days at Ferris State when I was known simply as Dj Kode Red, djing every party that I could get my hands on, at which time I started to make a name for myself as a Dj. Those college parties transcended to house parties to club parties and events, it took on sort of a domino effect and the next thing I found myself doing was making beats in a studio and the rest is history.

I discovered that the body of work that I had produced in just the last 10 years alone is unimaginable and at that time I said to myself, “I have a story to tell” and something said to me, “do a documentary.”

That’s how THE HIP HOP COMPOSER: FROM DJ TO SUPER PRODUCER was born. The only problem I had was the information out weighted the documentation. So my challenge was finding a way to condense so much history into a documentary.

I felt that doing a documentary would be great because I could give an overview of my life, rather than detail each and every event, which would have been impossible to say the least. Making myself an open book to the world and sharing some of life’s most intimate moments is not always an easy thing to do.

Starting out, I never would have thought in a thousand years that I would sitting right here, right now, discussing my life as an artist, songwriter, producer or whatever.

It’s my belief that hard work, dedication, and perseverance, mixed with love and aspirations, seasoned with desire, and a will to win, will get you here every time. Now, I’m not saying I made it, but what I am saying is I have been put in a light to be seen and that’s the goal, anything after that will take care of it’s self.

I know in my heart, and in my soul, that god has a plan for me and one day it will be revealed. Until then, I keep living the life that I love with gods blessing. I love the life I live, weather it be marketing my own clothing line or working through Fiverr as a freelance music business professional who is involved in songwriting, music production, tutorials, performing.

Basically helping and or assisting other people realize there dreams, sort of a musical handy man, if it’s broken, I’m the one you call to fix it.

After working on what could possibly be thousands of varies projects and facing an insurmountable amount of challenges along the way, this could never have been accomplished without the love and desire that burns deep in my soul, these thing would have been impossible to do. So, if theirs a takeaway from this story, it is simply this “Never give up on your dream and keep grinding.”
