The Hike
There has never been a movie produced quite like "The Hike"(2020/2021).
The Hike is based on true hiking stories from the southern parts of the Appalachian Trail and the production company's possible real life run in with a Native American legend.
A couple from East Tennessee goes on a three day hike in the Great Smoky Mountains. The fun starts to dissipate when they start finding evidence of possible criminal activity scattered throughout the trails, and the deeper they plunge into the wilderness, the more they feel like they are being watched.
Things take a turn for the worse when the couple runs into a trio of intimidating strangers. Their intentions are unclear, and the couple tries everything to escape the woods before violence ensues with their new adversaries.
Critics have noted the beautiful scenery, wildly unpredictable plot, the humor, the dialogue and the tension. But "The Hike" is probably best described as, as one reviewer stated, " Clerks in a horror movie in the woods." In addition to tension, gore, mystery, comedy, adult situations and the paranormal, the film features the longest four person fight scene in cinematic history.

"Big Luke" Walker (Director, Writer) and Vinnie "Funkmaster V" Vineyard (AD, Producer, Writer) started off being rivals in the wrestling ring. The first night they met, nearly 7 foot tall Big Luke Walker clotheslined Funkmaster V on concrete. Their friendship had nowhere to go but up from there.
They started making high quality, comedic wrestling promos against each other, which got the attention of the right people. They were asked to start producing wrestling television for Fox in 2015. After being abruptly fired after six months, the two started a legit but comedic paranormal show called "Wrestling With Ghosts" with another wrestler, Travis Graves (El Gordo Gringo). The show won awards and was picked up on ASY TV, which it still runs to this day along with two other paranormal shows the duo created and produce.
The duo made comedy videos, wrestling promos, and paranormal television for years, being interrupted by producers and talent holding deals that never went anywhere. After their last television deal for Netflix fell through because of Covid 19, the duo decided to start making southern horror and comedy movies based on the stories they've heard and experienced in the Great Smoky Mountains. Their first movie "The Hike", was filmed in 2020 and released in 2021 and has been praised critically so far and done well in the festival circuit.
Vinnie Vineyard (AD, Producer, Actor, Editor)
The thing I love about "The Hike" is that it took on a life of its own and kind of became something unique before our eyes. We combined our paranormal experiences with a Native American legend from our TV show, with true stories of hikers in the Smoky Mountains, and with our comedic backgrounds, a funky, little amalgamation was created before our eyes behind the camera and during the editing process. I will always love this movie because it has soul. We almost died making this damned thing. It pays homages to some of our favorite movies, "Clerks", "The Blair With Project", "Evil Dead", "Deliverance", "They Live" and "Blood on the Sun". Odd mix, I know, but I dig its quirkiness in the final product. Can't wait to make more!!!
