The Healing Jar

The Healing Jar is a short meditative documentary which uses ASMR techniques and poetic imagery designed to relax the audience. In an overly busy, consumerist, push-button world, the film creates a space for the audience to reflect on their own healing, and the real time process required to create a unique artifact by hand.

Director Biography - Andrea Cass

Andrea Cass is a filmmaker located in St. John's, Newfoundland. She fell in love with film making when she took a course at the Newfoundland Independent Film Makers Co-op in 2017 and never looked back. Her first film, River Of Fire(2019), a short documentary about the Victoria Park lantern festival, premiered at FIN- Atlantic International Film Festival to a packed, enthusiastic audience and went on to screen at many national and international film festivals. Wheels of Life (2020), a film about seniors living in long term care who enjoy a taste of freedom on an adaptive bicycle built for two, screened online nationally and internationally and touched many people all over the world. Wheels of Life was also selected to be part of the 2021 Hot Docs At Home Provincial Spotlight Series and the prestigious Kendal Mountain festival. Andrea's narrative film, SPIN(2021), premiered at the FIN Atlantic Film Festival as part of the REEL East Coast Shorts Gala, and was nominated for Best Short at the 2021 Charlottetown Film Festival. SPIN screened on CBC and CBC GEM- Reel East Coast season 7 episode 1, and won the Silver Spike Award at the Smith Sound Film Festival for audience choice. The Healing Jar(2022) premiered at the Atlantic International Film Festival- Reel East Coast Shorts Gala and will make it's premiere on CBC GEM'S Reel East Coast season 9 episode 1 in February 2024. Andrea's latest, Northerner (2024), is currently in post production. Northerner, a superhero surprise short, will be available in the fall of 2024.
