The Grand Whale

The King of the Abyss and the Princess of the Land unite against a tyrant in a war for the fate of two worlds.
Deep 3,000 meters beneath the surface, within the colossal living entity known as 'The Grand Whale,' thrives the ancient Kelkon civilization. Kaol, the Sea King born from a mysterious egg, rapidly matures through the magical potion 'Paron,' possessing a warrior's body but a pure heart. On land, the ruthless King Mumkht of Cletatan ravages the continent, forcing Sharolyn, the princess of the fallen kingdom Tulkekia, to flee to the sea where she is shipwrecked.

Rescued by Kaol, Sharolyn transcends their differences, and the two fall in love, forging a historic alliance between land and sea to stop Mumkht. When Mumkht launches a massive invasion against the Grand Whale, Kaol commands the ocean's might while Sharolyn leads a terrestrial coalition of war elephants and mages in a strategic counterattack. In a decisive battle, the two heroes strike down the tyrant, ushering in a new era of coexistence and peace.

Director Biography - Dojong Kim

Currently operating DreamFactory, a generative AI film and advertising production company.
As an IT planner and author of the novel The Secret of Bitcoin, which exposed various scam cases during Korea's cryptocurrency craze. As a planning expert, he serves as CSO of Work Doni Co., Ltd., Planning Director of the Korea-Laos Cultural Heritage Exchange Association, and is a full member of the Korean Mystery Writers Association, and is an alumnus of FOBL (POSTECH Digital Assets and Blockchain Expert Program) 4th cohort. As the founder of Donicat PFP, he created 'Donicat,' the charity cat featured in the popular 2023 KBS drama Secret Woman.
Recognizing the vision and prospects for generative AI films in 2025, he is currently operating DreamFactory with Dr. Jang Min, a POSTECH AI Ph.D., and Park Jun-seok, CEO and Head of Development at Hancom, focusing on generative AI film production and programs.

Director Statement

"When the mysteries of the abyss collide with the greed of the land, love becomes the most powerful weapon."
The Grand Whale is more than a fantasy adventure; it is an exploration of how two severed worlds can become one. The contrast between the civilization within the colossal living entity 'Grand Whale,' drifting 3,000 meters deep, and the surface empire 'Cletatan,' stained with greed, forms the core mise-en-scène of this story.
The directorial focus lies in the "dissolution of boundaries." Kaol, the Sea King with an adult body but a pure, child-like heart, and Sharolyn, the Land Princess who has lost everything yet retains a steel will—the journey of these two disparate beings meeting, filling each other's voids, and growing together creates a drama more intense than the spectacle of war itself.
Visually, I aim to deliver overwhelming catharsis through the grandeur of land warfare, where Kelkon's fluid underwater action intertwines with magic and war elephants. However, at the end of it all, I hope what remains is not just the thrill of victory, but a message of coexistence that transcends prejudice. I wish to show that the 'solidarity of embrace' demonstrated by Kaol and Sharolyn, rather than Mumkht's violent conquest, is the true heroism needed in our time.
