Director Biography - William F. Reed

William F. Reed was born and raised in California to a Native American, Mexican American, African American mother and a Welsh, French, and Irish father.

He grew up underprivileged so going to the movies was a treat that didn't occur very often. At the age of 5 William went to a movie that changed his life forever. The movie was E.T. and it affected him on a deep emotional level.

He knew there was something to this movie stuff but didn't exactly know what. Years later William understood his true calling in life. He was going to make movies!!

He moved to Los Angeles in 2001 with just enough money for 30 days and a big ole' dream of becoming a big shot movie director. While in Hollywood William worked the red carpet at the Oscars to having a small roll in Star Trek (2009).

Working as a programmer for multiple film festivals William now resides in Austin, Texas with his wife Jen.

The Good Hearts Club is his first feature film. He hopes his lighthearted stories will help to bridge the divide among Americans today.

As both a Native American and Mexican American William hopes his lighthearted stories will help to bridge the divide among Americans today.

Director Statement

As this is my first feature film I'm sure it won't surprise you to learn that it is a very personal story. The characters portrayed in this film come directly from a group of misfits I knew when I worked briefly at an escape room. In fact, we shot the film AT the escape room where I met and knew these people. Sadly the facility closed in 2020 as did many small businesses.

I began moving forward on pre-production on this film in early January 2020 and we hoped to start shooting in March...well, I'm sure you know what happens next.
For the next few months as we all were glued to our phones and devices to see what the next day had in store for us, I kept thinking about this movie I wanted to make. Mostly because the story is a happy one and we were living in such an unhappy time.

Day after day I watched as the numbers of Covid cases dwindled and finally made the decision to pull the trigger and shoot the thing. Following the SAG guidelines, mind you.

And so we did. Myself a few close friends and a group of young, talented actors set out to tell a sweet story about how if you do your best and keep a kind heart as you do so, you just might find out there is good in the world after all.

Thank you for watching this labor of love and I hope my message brings a smile to your face.
