The Glasses

Joseph, a gentle intellectual with a dry sense of humor, has been living with Parkinson's for two decades. When Joseph's beloved only daughter comes home for a visit with her husband and toddler, they visit a new neurologist who has a simple solution for his debilitating dizziness -- new glasses. They, along with Joseph's feminist academic wife Liz, attempt to get him the glasses, but obstacles arise.

Throughout the journey, the family tries to deal with their feelings of grief, frustration, love, and anxiety as best they can.

This film explores the power of relationships and how, when facing inevitable loss, love looks trying. Based on a true story.

Director Statement

This story is based on Frances' experiences as her family navigated her dad's Parkinson's Disease. It is a bittersweet, understated dramedy about living life in the midst of slow-moving loss. The events of the story are small -- trying to get Joseph the right pair of glasses -- but the emotional stakes for each character are high. Mourning the past, anxiety for the future, and, above all, love and humor in the imperfect present thread through the story.
