The Girl & The Horse

The film shows a young girl who is helped by horses to become more secure in herself and in her life. In five parts we see the girl interact with a horse or with the whole herd and sometimes with her mother, in a forest pasture. She sits on a horse, runs with them, cuddles or rests with them. She talks about the horses' own desires and free instincts and she tells about her dreams, day and night, and conveys the trust, freedom and joy that she gets from interacting with the horses.

There is also a Swedish version of this film, with Swedish texts and no subtitles.

Director Biography - Åsa Rockberg, Raitis Vulfs

Åsa Rockberg is the founder of Earthheart Dance, which works with human growth through movement and dance in contact with nature.
She creates performing art with themes from various mythologies and nature, which act as mirrors for people living in the modern world.
Her art is recognized from the authentic expression and presence.
Since 1997 she has been performing in various places throughout Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany, cooperating with different musicians from many countries. She has during this time also been teaching various groups of people to experience the magic of nature and express their deepest emotions. In 2011 she met film artist Raitis Vulfs and they started a creative film lab together working in nature and with mythological items.

Raitis Vulfs is a director, cameraman and editor since 2004 for many documentary films. Mainly about folk music traditions in Latvia, but also about contemporary visual artists and performances, about nature reservation and school education and about national minorities. He worked not only with people from Latvia, where he’s born and lives, but also in cooperation with projects from Norway and Sweden. Main interests in film making are nature, human performance in and with nature, traditional cultures and individuals, whose efforts during their lives are something incredible. Before film-making he was a teacher in elementary and middle schools and wrote some educational books.
