Biography – Rodin Mohseni
Rodin Mohseni, born on January 24, 2000, is an artist, filmmaker, and theatre directing student. He began his artistic career in 2014 as a composer in the Persian rap scene.
In 2018, he started his academic studies in Applied Chemistry, while continuing to explore artistic expression. In early 2019, he completely distanced himself from the music field and pursued his creative journey through writing short stories.
After completing his studies in Applied Chemistry in 2021, he continued his academic path in Theatre Directing, where he is still studying and actively working today.
Rodin Mohseni has directed two short films titled “Negah” (The Gaze) and “Shatranji” (Checkered). He has also staged a research-based performance on Ta’zieh in Iran, which combined elements of traditional Iranian theatre and ritual performance.
In addition, he has produced eight staged play readings, further expanding his work in theatre production and artistic collaboration.
Director’s Statement
For me, cinema is a dream that connects truth to the reality of human life. Within the frame and sound, I seek the moment when the boundary between imagination and existence dissolves—where the human being merges into the image, and the image takes root within the human soul.
The lens of the camera is the eye of a living being. Every time I look through it, I feel something breathing, seeing, understanding. It is not merely the act of recording; it is an act of perceiving through an eye that stands between the world and my inner self.
The size of a shot is like a leaf on a tree—each leaf contains a fragment of life, a reflection of the whole, completing the definition of existence. No frame is meaningless, just as no living leaf is lifeless.
Cinema, to me, is an effort to turn feeling into image and image into a deeper understanding of being. I strive to create a world that is not a mere imitation of reality, but a reflection of its innermost layers—a world where the audience not only sees, but also feels, understands, and finds themselves within a shared dream of images.
