The Forced Alpinists

This 31-minute 4K documentary retraces the perilous routes taken by European Jews and refugees fleeing Nazi persecution and Franco’s regime during the late 1930s and early 1940s. Physically following their footsteps over the rugged Pyrenees, we uncover their stories of survival, resilience, and the human spirit. Through interviews with a descendant of a guide who aided the refugees, interviews with an expert on the escape routes, and rare black-and-white archival footage from the time, the film portrays a harrowing chapter of history, where courage and compassion crossed borders in the face of unimaginable terror.
