Experiencing Interruptions?

The Flight of the Quirky Owl (teaser)

A small blue crochet owl lives quietly in her magical, colorful shelter, until a set of surreal events triggers long-forgotten dreams about being able to fly. She embarks on a journey through mysterious worlds, where she will have to confront her difficult memories, limitations and feelings of inadequacy. She will encounter many weird creatures that’ll help her accept herself for who she is, discover her true talents and learn to live in peace far from external expectations.
The 2-minute movie is a teaser of a short animation I am currently working on and seeking funds for, but I think that the little movie is a worthwhile experience itself.

Director Statement

As a late-diagnosed autistic person, I’ve often felt like an outsider. Through mysterious worlds filled with strange creatures, I want to create a space where other outcasts can feel safe, accepted and inspired to find their true power.

To the quirky little owl, flying doesn't come naturally, and she's given up trying to fit in. She also struggles with emotional and facial expression, but she feels very deeply, which is conveyed through atmosphere, sounds, and the environments she encounters. This film is both a healing process for me and an invitation to others who have faced childhood trauma or struggle with invisible disabilities and dysregulation to find solace in its soothing, cozy vibes and uplifting story. Even though the character will have to face her internal darkness to make peace with the past and her limitations, it will happen through a crazy adventure full of barking furniture automatons, mythical gigantic sculptures and fluffy animal friends.

Growing up on the Polish and Czech stop-motion goodnight stories of the '80s and '90s, I want to recreate that feeling of discovering something truly special - engaging story that teaches self-acceptance, kindness, empathy, and the importance of caring for each other, nature, and animals.
This is a teaser of a full short animation about the owl, that I’m hoping to find support and funds for and I hope that the festival visibility can help me reach that goal.
