Ben Richardson:
Ben Richardson is an American actor, director, writer, and producer. He is best known for his work in the independent film scene.
Benjamin Daniel Richardson was born September 11, 1984 in Tucson, Arizona. His father, Don Richardson, of Italian descent, is a copper miner. His mother, Rebecca (Ewing), of Irish and other European descent, is a college professor and writer. He has one younger brother, Caleb.
Ben has trained with such talent as Matthew Berry (The Notebook, Rush Hour), Cathy Reinking (The Office, Arrested Development), and Chris Freihofer (August: Osage County, Minari).
Ben started his career on the stage in the Oklahoma City theatre scene. He found some local and regional success with roles like Stanley Jerome (Brighton Beach Memoirs), and Conrad Birdie (Bye Bye Birdie). After several years of acting on stage, in 2014 he decided to devote his full attention to the screen. Constantly pushing himself to grow as a filmmaker, person, and as an actor to be "true in imaginary circumstances" he has a true passion and love for the art. As he devotes more time to his craft, he delved into the Meisner technique to try and elevate his performance on screen, and with his fellow peers. He enjoys collaboration, and diving into characters that are nothing like himself, but finding an immersive level of authenticity to portray them.
His directorial debut, "Repercussion," has garnered over 30 award nominations, and double-digit wins, including personal accolades for best actor in a lead role, best Oklahoma director, best screenplay, and the Horizon Award for best up-and-coming actor/filmmaker in the state of Oklahoma.
Adrián Contreras:
Carlos Adrián Contreras Juárez was born on October 31, 1989 in Madero City, Mexico. He studied at the Veracruz Film School "Luis Buñuel" Xalapa, Veracruz. His debut short film, "Leticia y La Moneda" was selected at the International Film Festival Summit Tajín and in “Shorts Mexico.” He involved with 3 seasons of a series centered around fighters entitled, “Chronicles of the Ring” in Tampico, Tamaulipas. He wrote the story "The Moon of Cassandra" that was published all over Mexico during the Fair International of the book Monterrey Nuevo Leon in 2013.
After that he made a string of short films including, "The Voice of the Desert", "Make Me Voluntad,” “Triangle" (based on the book The Suicides Have Fun), and, "The Pill of Dreams" (Winner of Best Post-production at the International Film Festival of Tampico). He then decided to tackle his first feature film, "El Silencio Delaware Augusto" where it was selected in Oklahoma Cine Latino Film Festival in the United States, as well as The International Film Festival of Tampico, and received an honorary mention as the “best feature of the year” in the Guadalajara Mexican Fiesta Film Festival.
Proceeding those accolades, he continued on, making the short films, "El Mensajero" which won "Best Short Film "at Oklahoma Cine Latino Film Festival in 2015, and was that same year selected at the Festival Guadalajara International Film Festival, and the Festival International Short Film Creative. In 2016, he filmed the critically acclaimed short film "La Cama", which was selected in Festival De Cannes in France the same year.
Looking to further widen his scope as a filmmaker, Adrian decided to shoot for the first time in the United States with his short film, “Carol” to which he also used American actors for the first time. It was met with positive reviews, and has been selected in the Oklahoma Cine Latino Film Festival 2017 (where it won "Audience Choice”), the Phoenix International Film Festival, and Festival De Cine Latino Americano and continues to be on the festival circuit.
The world is truly in a unique climate, both politically and socially. With Adrian hailing from Mexico, and myself America, we thought what better place than here, and what better time than now to make a film that promotes building relationships and not walls. We decided to combine our filmmaking styles, as well as shoot half the film in Mexico and half in the United States, while creating a story that builds both cultures. Working together was what this project was all about. Learning FROM each other, and WITH each other to grow as people and filmmakers, in a hope to make a piece of art that will be accepted and loved for what it is, and hopefully help others be accepted for who they are, wherever they may be from in this crazy world.
This is a story that could happen to anyone, and I’m sure has happened many times. The characters are thought out, and purposefully real. This is not a glorified or slanted look at any one culture, but instead a look at one family’s story, and in particularly one man’s journey to keep his promise to his mother and find the father he’s never known.
