Director Biography - Raúl Coria Martínez

Raúl Coria Martínez is a Spanish independent filmmaker, creator, and CEO of Cyberia Films, based in Mataró (Barcelona).

His work focuses on science fiction, artificial intelligence, and experimental storytelling, exploring new forms of authorship outside traditional film industry structures.

The First Shapeshifter is his first feature-length science fiction film, fully completed and internationally distributed, marking a milestone in his evolution as a director and creator.

Director Statement

The First Shapeshifter was born from the necessity to create without waiting for validation.

As an independent filmmaker, I chose to step outside traditional production and distribution systems to explore new creative paths using artificial intelligence as a tool — not as a replacement for authorship, but as an extension of it.

This film is not about technology; it is about transformation. About what happens when humans are forced to evolve in order to survive systems that no longer serve them.

Making this film was an act of resistance, learning, and persistence.

The First Shapeshifter represents my belief that cinema still belongs to those who dare to create it.
