Director Biography - Jake Ryan Baker

Jake Ryan Baker was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and that's where he is currently still, happy to be in a place with so many like-minded creatives. He started off writing screenplays in college, but the director bug finally got him and he has made several short films, many which have played in festivals. Hoping to make his feature very soon.

Director Statement

The Escort was a script I specifically wrote for the two lead actors because I wanted to put them in something together finally. I wrote it before the pandemic and it got shelved, and then some time after, we decided to give it a go, even though I was nervous about something that I thought was actually very straightforward and sincere (for me, haha), but I'm really proud of how my cast and crew came together to make this. This is one of my biggest short films I've ever made, and I'm excited for people to see Todd and Morgan be as amazing as I know they are. And thanks to the great team behind the camera, it looks pretty dang nice too. Thanks for reading if you read this!
