William Nicholas Clay is an innovative filmmaker based in South Carolina, celebrated for his fun and playful storytelling style. He directed the feature film Party Hard, showcasing his talent for blending humor and heart. In addition to his work in narrative cinema, William has crafted a series of compelling music videos for local artists, including E.Z. Shakes, Candy Coffins, and hip-hop artist H3ro. Passionate about highlighting his hometown and its talented artists, he continuously pushes his own creative boundaries by exploring multiple styles and genres in cinema through his own production company, Reel Vantage Films.
THE EASTER SUNDAY MASSACRE (2024) was created for the 2nd Act Film Project, presented by The Jasper Project, a multidisciplinary arts group supporting Columbia and South Carolina's creative community.
The 2nd Act Film Project promotes independent filmmaking in South Carolina by inviting teams to complete and produce 14 short films. Fourteen teams were chosen and given the first and third acts of a screenplay, with the task of writing the second act.
The finished films premiered on October 24, 2024, where The Easter Sunday Massacre won "Best Director."
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:
This film is for the artists who never got their moment, for the voices sidelined by circumstance, and for anyone who’s ever wondered if it’s too late to be heard. It’s about time, silence, and the quiet power of reclaiming your narrative.
We made this piece with deep love for the creative process—and for the filmmakers, past and present, who keep telling stories even when no one’s watching. Because sometimes, being seen again—decades later—is enough.
