Director Statement

From a Black director making her writing debut, “The Drawer” is a unique experiment in LGBTQ+ cinema that takes the bottle film approach to a whole new level. The film taps into the mood of our time using the near-universally understood language of “being home”— it unfolds from a single angle in a single room.

Musically driven with nearly no dialogue, it is an excellent match for domestic and international audiences alike. A little sexiness, a little silliness, and one novelty feather ultimately lead to an uplifting message of embracing friendship and community amidst the drama of romances that come and go.

Thank you for your consideration.
