Director Biography - Nana Duncan

Nana Duncan is a screenwriter, director and podcaster who is passionate about bringing queer black stories to screen. She is a visual writer who has the ability to plant you in the centre of the world she creates.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies from Kingston University and is currently based in London where she works as Production Assistant in Film & TV.

Her work includes LOVED BY YOU (2020) a micro short and a poetic exploration of queer black love, which she wrote, produced and directed. LOSING JOY (2022), a short about a young woman who struggles to acknowledge the first anniversary of her sister's passing, which she wrote and produced.

In 2022, LOSING JOY premiered at BFI Flare: London LGBTQ+ Film Festival, screened at Edinburgh International Film Festival and BlackStar Film Festival making it a BAFTA qualifying film. LOSING JOY was nominated for best short at BlackStar Film Festival and Edinburgh International Film Festival

In 2024, she wrote and directed THE DONOR starring Champion's Genesis Lynea and Black Mirror's Siena Kelly. Just like LOSING JOY, THE DONOR was executively produced by rapper Dave based on the previous short's critical acclaim.
