Director Biography - Deep Desai

Deep Desai is a Toronto based Director & Actor who is originally from Dubai. He has studied and worked in film for several years in Australia before coming to Canada in 2021 to get his foot in the door of the Canadian film industry. Deep has several short films under his belt and has a special love for comedy and work that focuses on character driven stories. He is also a strong actor with experience in several commercials, short films and other digital content.

Director Statement

I was introduced to this project once the script was written. As i read it, I was immediately drawn towards it and knew I had to be a part of it. Comedy has always been a part of me since I was growing up. I find entertainment is best served with laughter especially when you can relate to the story.

Having been on a few sets in different countries, i’ve met some challenging directors along the way. The mockumentary style to portray a nightmare scenario during a production hits the right spots when referencing shows like The Office and What we do in the Shadows.

With multiple characters and limited time in a pilot, it was definitely going to be challenging to display every character’s trait. But, challenges usually bring the best in people and that is what I aimed to achieve.
