Alec Rosinski is a senior at Temple University with over a decade of filmmaking experience. He typically directs high-concept comedic short films with his 3 frequent collaborators, Dorthia Schreyer, Will Bricca and his twin brother Jacob. Together, they make up "Echidna Cone Productions," a collective which Alec has been a part of since 2013. Alec also frequently collaborates with his partner Theresa Hamilton, and all of his recent works are the result of this collaboration.
The premise for "The Dinner Plan," is actually based on a true story that a classmate of mine told when I took an 8 A.M acting course back in 2019. She had chosen to prepare a lobster for her mother's birthday dinner as a way of showing off her culinary skills, only to come to the startling realization that the store she bought it from doesn't kill their catches- meaning that the responsibility of taking the creature's life would fall onto her. I was intrigued at the lengths someone will go to impress their loved ones, even if it costs them a piece of themselves.
In real life, the story had a much darker ending than in my film. The girl ended up going through with the killing. And though she sobbed the whole way through she ended up preparing a lovely dinner for her mom. I changed around a few aspects, replaced the mother/daughter relationship with that of an overcompensating boyfriend, framed the story as a rom-com turned psychological thriller, and shuffled around events to fit that mold.
This film would not have been possible without Theresa Hamilton, Adam McAlonie, Will Bricca, Ava Brown, Dorthia Schreyer and my brother Jacob. I hope you enjoy it.
