The Day After

“Il giorno dopo” follows the intimate, fragile hours after a life‑changing event. Through a minimalist approach to dialogue, precise sound design and a controlled colour palette, the film focuses on how trauma and loss reverberate in small gestures, silences and spaces. The short aims to create a cinematic experience that feels both personal and universal, inviting the audience to recognize their own “day after” moments.
With “Il giorno dopo” I wanted to explore what happens just after the breaking point, when reality seems unchanged but everything inside a person has shifted. I chose to work with sound and colour as primary narrative tools, using the rhythm of the edit and the tension between silence and noise to let the emotional layer emerge without over‑explaining it.
The film was conceived for independent festival audiences but also as a calling card for my work in directing, editing and audio post‑production, bridging my experience as a filmmaker and as an audio engineer.
