Director Biography - Tommy G. Kendrick

While Tommy G. Kendrick is a veteran actor, THE DARK PLACES marks his debut as a director.

Tommy has been a work-in-progress for over six decades. He's a far from perfect man of faith, husband, father, cancer co-survivor, dog lover and a native Texan. For Tommy acting wasn't a career choice, it was a calling. Still is.

Tommy began his career at Dallas Theater Center prior to migrating to Los Angeles. Among his fondest experiences in L.A. was working with icons Henry Fonda, Cloris Leachman and Harry Dean Stanton in a stage production of The Oldest Living Graduate, one of the Texas Trilogy plays that originated at Dallas Theater Center.

Tommy's acting credits include films such as The Alamo, Friday Night Lights and Bernie and TV projects such as Friday Night Lights, Prison Break, Walker, TX Ranger, Fear The Walking Dead, The Son and Panic.

Tommy enjoys working in short films as they present him the opportunity to explore characters and themes outside the norm of larger budgeted films and television projects. Recent short film appearances include lead roles in Matchstick Willie and Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, the latter of which Tommy co-wrote and co-produced. Tommy also appears in dual roles in this film, The Dark Places, as well as directing and co-producing with writer/producer LeAnn Morris.

Tommy is a longtime member of SAG-AFTRA and currently serves as a board member for SAG-AFTRA Houston-Austin local. He was also a founding member of the SAG-AFTRA Austin Actors Conservatory.

Director Statement

I have been a professional actor for over forty years. Recently I have ventured into producing and with THE DARK PLACES, into directing.

I am a Christian who is an actor and filmmaker rather than a 'Christian actor' or 'Christian filmmaker'. My emphasis is on storytelling rather than messaging.

My desire is to tell good stories, start good conversations and honor the God who created me by using the talents He gave me to the fullest of my abilities.
