Director Biography - Jeremy Brockman

Jeremy Brockman is an Emmy Award-Winning filmmaker from Detroit. His work explores the emotional and mental lives of Black men through narrative and documentary filmmaking. Coming from an environment that often penalizes Black men for full self-expression, his films create a space where complexity can exist without explanation or defense. He aims to show the fullness of their humanity unfold on its own terms rather than in response to expectation or stereotype. With his work, Brockman seeks to create images that truthfully represent and inspire his community.

Brockman’s short film, THE CUT, has been screened at festivals nationwide including Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival and Baltimore International Film Festival where it won Best Narrative Short - Drama.
