A FEW REVIEWS...
"Jerzy keeps impressing us with his versatility and ideas that exceed a specific genre. This time, Jerzy into a completely different register, placing his action in a fictional world, in a country called “The Citadel of the Five Mountains”. At the heart of the narrative is Arabella, a character who provides a retrospective voiceover that hints at deep-seated societal and personal wounds from the war. The story unfolds in a war-torn world dominated by the formidable Zolu Votan and his advanced war machines, which terrorize the populace. The central conflict is set against the backdrop of the Five Mountains, a region marked by prolonged conflict and destruction. Arabella’s narration introduces the audience to various characters including Ovel Dunson, a political figure; Aveen d'Suhu, a pilot who discovers a critical vulnerability in the enemy machines; and the enigmatic Zolu Votan himself.
Following the eventual defeat of Zolu Votan, a new phase of reconstruction begins, symbolized by the construction of the Citadel of the Five Mountains. The narrative shifts focus to the Dunson Institute, founded by Ovel Dunson. This institution embodies the hopes of nurturing a new generation that can prevent future conflicts. However, the institute's role is controversial, as it becomes entwined with the state's military and surveillance apparatus, tasking its students with suppressing dissent.
Key themes explored in the screenplay include the ethical implications of war, the cyclical nature of violence, and the manipulation of history and education to serve political ends. Arabella's character arc, which reveals her growing disillusionment and conflict with her grandfather's legacy, adds a personal dimension to these broader themes.
The narrative structure of the screenplay is complex, interweaving flashbacks and different character perspectives to reveal the multi-layered history of the conflict and the personal stories entwined with it.
Overall, "The Citadel of the Five Mountains" offers a rich tapestry of intrigue and drama, with a strong focus on character development and thematic depth!" - Wallachia International Film Festival
"This was largely a well-plotted script, with a solid sense of structure and a good cliff hanger. The romance between Riho and Arabella is fun, and cute. The enemies to lovers trope works well for these two. Their shared goal to uncover the truth about the Opponents and the recent violence plaguing the Citadel is what allows their romance to bloom, as they work together to keep secrets from others in their lives." - Fantasy/Sci-Fi Film & Screenplay Festival
"The premise for this script felt so strong, and there were so many elements that worked, such as the nun with an overactive imagination who teams up with bank robbers for a good cause, making the premise feel delightfully unexpected and the protagonist deeply easy to root for and want to follow. The script also feels like a love letter to Western movies, making this core idea feel exciting." - Stage32
