The Christopher Nolan Experience
When struggling creative Christopher Nolan is dumped by his girlfriend upon her discovery that he is not the legendary director of films such as Oppenheimer and Interstellar, he decides to prove himself by staging a play adaptation of The Dark Knight in order to win her back. "The Christopher Nolan Experience" captures the behind-the-scenes efforts leading up to this anticipated disaster.

Matthew Wayne Putnam is a writer, director, and actor from Bowmanville, Ontario. A graduate of Toronto Film School's Acting for Film, TV, and Theatre program, Matt has appeared in projects such as Vice TV’s series "Dark Side of the 2000s", and the TIFF Shorts-screened "Saved By The Bomb". His feature debut, "The Christopher Nolan Experience", co-directed with frequent collaborator Diego Periera, is a mockumentary-style comedy influenced by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, and the films of Christopher Nolan, exploring themes of insecurity, identity, and the struggle for self-fulfillment. Matt and Diego first met on the set of Saved By The Bomb and have since collaborated on several short films and comedy projects leading up to their first feature film together.
The Christopher Nolan Experience was born out of a shared love for storytelling that blends absurdity with sincerity. After collaborating on multiple short films and comedy skits since first meeting on the set of Saved By The Bomb, we (Matthew Putnam and Diego Pereira) knew we had developed a creative shorthand that made co-directing feel like a natural next step. Inspired by mockumentary classics like The Office and the chaotic comedic style of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, we set out to tell a story that captures the hardships of aspiring creatives grappling with ambition, insecurity, and the desperate need for validation. At its heart, this film is a playful yet honest look at identity and self-worth, filtered through the lens of our shared admiration (and parody) of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Our hope is that audiences see a bit of themselves, and their own passions and fears, reflected in this offbeat, heartfelt world that we’ve created.
