Odysseas Papathanasiou Terzis is an emerging composer born in 1991 in Athens, Greece. After graduating the 'National and Kapodistrian University of Athens' in the field of Primary education and receiving Diplomas in Music Theory, Harmony, Counterpoint by the 'Athens Conservatory' and 'Philippos Nakas Conservatory', he continued his musical studies at the 'HKU Utrecht Conservatorium' of the Netherlands, where he obtained his Bachelor degree in classical composition. In 2021 he participated in the Erasmus+ exchange student program, as a student of the 'Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg' in Germany. He is currently doing his Master Degree in Film Scoring at Eastman School of Music with Prof. Mark Watters.
During his studies he participated in many masterclasses and film scoring workshops in all over the world, such as 'NGC lab' with Harry Gregson-Williams, 'HFF Film Scoring Workshop' with Yati Durant, 'Netherlands' Silent Film Festival' with Daan van den Hurk, 'Paxos’ International Film Scoring Workshop' with Michalis Palaiologou among others. Winner of the 'Bachdag Amersfoort Composition Competition 2022,Second Prize Winner of the 'Four For Music' Scoring Contest 2022, finalist of the 'Apulia Soundtrack Awards', the 'Oticons Faculty International Film Music Competiton (2023), 'Call for Scores' of the 'Film Scoring Academy of Europe' (2022) and 'NGC Composition Competition' with Harry Gregson-Williams (2021) as head of the jury and .
He has received multiple commissions and had collaborated with many different artists, choreographers, theatre groups, collectives and companies such as 'Imitating the Dog', 'STEP', 'NOBS Films' and more.
His main interest is focusing on Film and Theater music where he already has experience by composing original scores for theater plays and feature films such as 'Troubled Waters: symphonies on Freedom made in Confinement' and 'Berend Botje' (Netflix 2022) by Mans van den Berg.
His music had been performed in all over the world. Member of 'IMMSANE' association and 'Music and Culture Association Efterpi'.

Allow me please to introduce myself,
My name is Odysseas Papathanasiou Terzis, an emerging composer from Greece.My interest in composition starts at a very young age as being a part of a musical family. Quite early, I felt the need to express myself, my inner thoughts, doubts, excitements and concerns through music and therefore I decided I wanted to follow my father’s path, become a musician and find my own artistic voice. My journey started from Greece in the Conservatory of Athens and led me to the Netherlands and the HKU Utrechts Conservatorium where I acquired the Bachelor degree in the classical composition department. Currently I am doing my Master's at the Eastman School of Music in the USA with professor Mark Watters. However, I feel that this journey has more destinations in order to achieve my final goal and broaden my musical and artistic horizons.
Although I am really enjoying composing concert music, quite early I realized that my great passion is music for the media and specifically the films. I was always fascinated by the power that music can have over the final result in a film, and therefore, as a cinema lover myself, my interest in combining the two things I love, grew more and more and made me see clearly that I want to pursue a career in film scoring and establish myself as a film composer in all over the world. In 2021, I had the great pleasure to work with the director Mans van den Berg and create the score for the feature film Berend Botje (NOBS films), that went to the cinemas in September 2021 and is on Netflix since April 2022 in the Netherlands. This experience helped me confirm what I have already known since years ago, that composing for films is what I want to do in my life.
Moreover I have composed for solo instruments and ensembles for concerts in the Netherlands and also in cultural centers in Athens,Greece. I am really interested in my music to combine different elements such as modern aesthetics, harmony and technics with lyricism and neotonal melodies. As one of my great interests is film music, I am trying to tell a story through my music that drives the listener to different feelings and atmospheres naturally and by the end of each composition my goal is the listener to have experienced a unique journey in melodies and soundscapes. On the other hand, lately I am quite interested in experimenting with extended technics on the instruments and create soundscapes using new sounds.
