Paulina is a Sydney-based mixed media artist. She graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts, majoring in Printmaking at Sydney College of Arts (University of Sydney) in 2016, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Design in Animation at the University of Technology, Sydney. Focusing on video, photography, collage and illustration, Paulina creates works inspired by the human mind, our internal world, and personal and global issues.
'The Bridge' is an animated adaption of the short story 'Balancing Act' by Jenny Davis. One of the story's meanings is “sometimes you need the help of someone who thinks differently than you to achieve a goal”. Inspired by the message, I decided to look into human connection and how we need each other to survive, dating back to one of the first humans, Homo habilis (handy man). With this in mind, I decided to pull this story back to a very primitive state, through the film's setting and metaphorically with the film's plot. Stripping the story to its bare bones, we heavily focused on the visuals and SFX as our film's main appeal.
I'm extremely honoured to have worked with such talented teammates. We all worked to our strengths and had a lot of fun doing it. I hope you enjoy our film and love our characters just as much as we did.
