Writer Statement

I’ve always been afraid to watch scary movies - my imagination tends to get the best of me.
But then I met Thom Floutz, award winning special effects make-up artist, and everything changed. Thom would explain, “The blood is really corn syrup with red food coloring” or “That’s a puppet and there’s a guy off screen with a toggle making him move,” turning something scary into something really cool and creative. I’ve spent years writing comedy, and Thom’s spent just as long making monsters and scaring the pants off people with his special effects. It just seemed right to finally do something together that let us both have a blast. That’s how the idea for a horror comedy screenplay came about—a perfect excuse to mix what we both love and just have some fun. And honestly, being married to Thom for thirty years means we bring a pretty cool energy and a lot of shared history to the projects we cook up together.
