The Bog Monster
A man lives in isolation, his life spent digging holes and searching the bog. Habit, ritual and repetition rule his days, until one morning his shovel strikes something beneath the soil and the world above begins to fracture.

Calvin Doyle is an Irish writer and director. His debut feature Outer Heavens explores grief, love and memory through a restrained and deliberate style. He develops his work independently with a focus on atmosphere, performance and narrative ambiguity.
From the beginning, we wanted the film to feel open. Over-explaining flattens something that should be felt. Mystery is where the emotion sits, and once you pin it down too tightly, it disappears.
I’m not interested in guiding an audience toward a single meaning. I’d rather they meet the film halfway and bring their own weight to it.
