Manon Bourgeois is a Second Year Acting student at Ryerson University's School of Performance. Over the years, her love for the craft of Acting has grown in harmony with her interest in filmmaking and storytelling.
The Blue Lily is a film I created in the context of my program's Creative Performance Studies course. My intentions behind the piece sparked from my collaboration with dancer and artist Janeyce Guerrier. Having attended the same high school before studying together at Ryerson University, the collaboration seemed only natural and succeeded beautifully. Following this initial collaboration, I was thrilled to welcome my classmate Ali Farhadi as co-writer and honorary assistant director for the film. Finally, I was grateful to work with my brother, the accomplished musician and creator Samuel Bourgeois who took on the role of Musical Director.
In addition to all these wonderful collaborations, I was lucky enough to include many friends and classmates to give life to the other characters. My heart is filled with gratitude for all the work that was put into this film as well as the lessons and skills it has taught me along the way.
NOTE: This film was created with respect to the restrictions of the Toronto and York Region Lockdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. All participants were only in contact with members of their household.
