The Bitcoin Car
Set in a northern coastal village – the life of small-scale goat farmer Gloria is on collision course with the megalomaniac death wish of 18 year old crypto investor Rita. Little brother Lukas comes home for the summer, to shockingly find a colossal bitcoin mining center located on top of the cemetery, where their parents used to be buried. Fish start to float ashore, and there is a mysterious issue with the power cables supplying the center. After baby goat Klamydia is found dead in the forest behind the church, the siblings team up with Colombian-Finnish electrician Viljami to find out what’s going on inside the mine.

The film won award for Best Music Score (by Gunnar Idenstam) at Annual Copenhagen Film Festival and Best Producer at International Moving Film Festival, it was screened as part of the University of Bergen's annual international conference on Sustainability Development Goals and at Columbia University.
The Bitcoin Car is Luktvasslimo's debut feature film.
My recent fiction explores the perspective of the geographical periphery on global or existential themes, and in my feature film debut I wanted to look at the blooming industry of data centers in remote areas like Arctic Norway. Up here, green, hydro-powered energy is moving from being an abundant resource into becoming scarce and pricy because of bitcoin mining and other electricity mega-consumers/mega-wasters.
