Director Statement

"The bastard son" emerged as a project through I wanted to explore the theme of betrayal, after a story about an inheritance and a murder came to my mind after hearing "Veridis Quo" by Daft Punk (musical theme that i used for the shortfilm). I wanted to narrate through three time lines to give more dynamism to the story, alternating each one of the events so that they are told at the same time. For the on-camera shooting, I filmed with an Iphone 6 with the intention of exploring filmmaking with cell phones, as well as trying to save money. I also opted for high contrast to immerse the viewer in a dark environment that reflected the psychological state of the protagonist.
