The Agnostic
Taraji, a Christian widow, is contacted by a strange man, Jamal, who turns out to be the husband of her late husband's mistress. He shows her proof behind the truth she pretended not to know. Taraji's marriage was no fairytale, but for her sake and that of her daughter, Imani, she tried to bury it. Imani has been growing up in front of her mother's eyes, forcing Taraji to treat her as an adult.
Bonding over their struggles as widowed parents, Taraji and Jamal come to find comfort in one another. However, when Taraji learns that Jamal is agnostic she runs for the hills.
In an attempt to follow a more traditional route she finds herself seeing a man, Rashad, from her church. Knowing it doesn't feel right, she begins to miss Jamal. Despite his high values and being the good person that he is, Taraji can't let herself see past his lack of faith.
Eventually, Taraji learns that Jamal's life has once again been turned upside down, as his son winds up in a coma. Taraji also learns that Rashad was aware of her husband's affair and used it to his advantage. With the help of a little faith in humanity Taraji and Jamal learn to find common ground with one another.
