The Actress (US-Version)

The neurotic middle-aged actress arrives late for dinner with the famous director. In her excessive joy and nervousness, she bombards him with embarrassing platitudes about career and life wisdom. The speechless director has to put up with it all, but an escape from the bizarre situation seems a long way off.
In the end, when the actress is caught up more and more by her neurotic “demons” between sedatives and stimulant pills, the director manages to escape.

Director Statement

THE ACTRESS
When I started writing the script, I had many actresses in mind that I have had the pleasure of getting to know over the course of my 35 years as an actor and director. Although the story is fictional, it is based on real characters, situations, anecdotes and quotes.
The story or character is not exaggerated - you have to believe me; every quote was said exactly like that in real life. My story is not meant to be a devaluation of an actress who is obviously overwhelmed with her life. Even though she may lose herself in clichés and prejudices, everything remains within the framework of human comedy. It is a homage to “the unknown actress”, to whom no monuments are set, in her wonderful exuberant joy and her desperate struggle “for the role”, in her egocentricity and contradictoriness, in her most personal drama and lofty career goals. A homage to an artificial figure who invented herself.
