Territory of the Beings
Territory of the Beings shows a modern ecosystem consisting of flexible islands. The narrator displays and analyzes the behavior of the beings and how they personalize, mark, occupy and defend their territory. The refined clean volumes of the Waterboard Brabantse Delta offices in Breda represent this ecosystem, where a number of creatures are daily crossing paths and structure their social lives.

MIRTE VAN DUPPEN (1990, Tilburg NL)
Mirte van Duppen is a visual artist - working with film - who lives and works in the Netherlands. She holds a Master of Graphic Design from the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam (NL), and a Bachelor of Graphic Design from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem (NL). In her work she analyses the function, interrelations and transformative powers of (urban) landscapes and the human interaction with these landscapes. She uses registration (what we see) and fictional (what we imagine) elements as tools for analysis and composition. The stillness in which her camera operates allows the observer to not only look but engage closely and question what is captured. A tension between what we see, imagine and experience.
