Tenuto

My creative journey has evolved over 20 years. I started in 1999 as a film student and wrote and directed The Bunglers, a self-funded, character driven feature, heist movie shot on the streets of downtown St. Louis. My process as a writer and director has always involved an obsession with how character is affected by place. Since film school, I have been directing, producing and writing full time at my company Halski Studio. My work experience includes writing, producing, & directing hundreds of branded episodic projects & commercials, several narrative shorts and music videos, an episodic TV docu-series and a narrative feature. I create cinematic, story-driven commercials that don't feel like advertising and original narratives that blur the line of what's real by employing high production value and stories with a dash of WTF. As a queer woman and trauma survivor, I have a deep need to tell stories that incite difficult conversations. My aim has always been to write and direct beautiful but dark stories that inspire people to grow, explore the uncomfortable, expand in beauty, live out adventures and even dharma. I love developing film and TV scripts, building out a team and producing it all the way through post. In 2022, I produced and directed over 40 episodic projects and traveled the world. I just moved to LA from St. Louis where I've enjoyed a 20 yr. career as a commercial and documentary producer, director, and writer, building out fantastic crews and creating content all over the world. I moved to LA to pursue my long time dream of directing TV and Films in LA. My latest narrative short, Tenuto, has had 17 fun wins so far this year on the festival circuit. Currently, I'm trying to land my first deal memo so that I can finally join the DGA. It's a lockbox that I'm determined to crack! I'm currently developing three TV shows and a broadway musical.
