Director Statement

Telephonic was my first ever attempt at a cohesive, professional short film and plays on the emphasis of modern phone culture. I got the inspiration on the train back to my student halls. Everyone was utterly obsessed with their phones! I wanted to emphasise the dangers of phone addiction whilst figuratively expressing my personal frustration with modern communication technology in a uniquely Scottish way!

With the pressures of tight deadlines for completing the project, fitting such a large subject-matter into a five-minute time window and shooting the film in Gaelic, it was an absolute pleasure to meet the challenge with such an enormously talented cast and crew.

Telephonic went on to receive nomination for both Best Drama and Best Student Film at the 2015 BBC FilmG Awards.
