Teddy
Life has beaten John to a pulp. He has devolved into a daily pint of whiskey, been dubbed the Macarena of modernistic art, and has just been evicted from his own house by his ex-wife who now lives with his best friend! And to top it off, his daughter Kelly- the most important thing in the world to him- has just told him she's getting married to the guy he never liked, and even more, she doesn't want John at her wedding.
John is about to take his own life when he discovers he's completely forgotten about the 15-year-old pit bull, Teddy, curled up on the floor next to him. Overcome by anger and guilt, John begrudgingly sets out to deal with this burden of a scruffy mutt so he can get to his much wanted dirt nap.
And how hard can that be? Drop the dog at the city shelter, right? Done. But when John finds out Teddy's chances of surviving the pound are slim to none, he breaks Teddy out and shows up at Lester's Lovables Dog Park Adoptions where the lovingly peculiar Lester’s motto is “you bring the bark, I bring the park!” However, John soon finds out that potential adopters only
want the puppies! John then tries to pawn off poor Teddy onto his cantankerous, naked, 70-year-old neighbor, followed by his ex-wife who adorns more plastic than Barbie, then begs his now estranged daughter to take in the old dog, only to hit dead end after dead end.
But when John runs into the quirky, effervescent dog groomer Phoebe, whom he thinks might just be from another planet, she inspires a longforgotten feeling within John: The possibility that his life can be different. Armed with a fresh idea, John teams up with Lester to find Teddy and other dogs like him a home.
All the while, Teddy is blissfully unaware of John's attempts to be rid of him. In fact, it's this old mutt's unwavering love for John that causes him to face down the fact that John simply doesn't love himself.
"Teddy" is a story of the unconditional love of an old, half blind dog who tries to get John to turn his life around before it's too late.
