Jordan Boehm is a Thai-Canadian-American filmmaker who grew up in Bangkok, Thailand, where he spent the first 18 years of his life. Now based in Michigan, he is a freshman in university, pursuing a double major in Film Production and Political Science. Jordan brings a cross-cultural lens to his work, and that is reflected in his latest film รสชาติจากบ้าน [Taste of Home]. His passion for storytelling is rooted in lived experience and a deep desire to amplify underrepresented voices. He hopes to continue making films that bridge cultures and build empathy.
This film is a deeply personal portrait of Mimi and Eek, a Thai couple navigating a new culture, language, and life in America—all while holding tightly to the essence of who they are. At the heart of the story is their relationship: one of joy, resilience, and quiet strength. As they fulfill Mimi’s dream and open an authentic Thai restaurant, every dish becomes more than a meal—it becomes a memory, a tether to home, and a quiet act of resistance against the slow erosion of identity through assimilation.
As a Thai-Canadian-American filmmaker, I’ve lived on both sides of this experience. This observational-style documentary gave me the chance to explore my own story through the raw and intimate journey of this couple and their restaurant. รสชาติจากบ้าน [Taste of Home] is about the bittersweet beauty of belonging, and the small, often invisible acts we cling to in order to remain ourselves. Culture, I’ve found, isn’t preserved through speeches or slogans—it lives in the hands that cook, clean, and carry on.
Making this film was incredibly personal. I’ve lived away from home for two years now, and Thai Table—the restaurant at the centre of this film—has been a small but source of home for me in the U.S. I hope this film brings joy, opens a window into the culture I grew up in, and helps others see the beauty in stories like Mimi and Eek’s.
Enjoy!
