MIXIHCALI - Tales of the Kosmic Monkey
"When the world was created…
Wait, Nobody knows !
Every tribe has its own story.
Some story took over,
but it doesn’t mean they are not true
So here, this is what people believe…"

Bastián crashed on Earth on August 2017. Since then, he lives and travels in space and time on board of Polo, his all terrain Kosmic Van, transformed into a music & film studio, shooting and writing the Tales of the Kosmic Monkey, and composing music, scores and tracks.
There is an old story about a hummingbird.
As a forest burns, all the animals flee in panic. Only a tiny hummingbird flies back and forth between the lake and the flames, carrying droplets of water in its beak.
The other animals laugh at its efforts.
"What do you think you're doing?"
The hummingbird answers:
"The best I can."
For the past eight years, I have been carrying my own drops of water. They take the form of films, music, stories and encounters gathered across deserts, jungles, mountains, ancient sites and forgotten roads. Together, they became Tales of the Kosmic Monkey.
What began as a personal journey gradually evolved into an exploration of the stories that shape human consciousness: creation myths, indigenous wisdom, our relationship with nature, and the invisible threads connecting cultures separated by oceans, languages and time.
Over 100,000 kilometres travelled, nineteen episodes and nineteen original scores later, I remain fascinated by the same question:
What have we forgotten?
In a world saturated with information, speed and distraction, Tales of the Kosmic Monkey is an invitation to slow down and listen. To listen to the land, to memory, to imagination, and to the voices that have survived outside the dominant narrative of modern civilization.
Every image, every piece of music and every word in the series is created and collected from my mobile studio, a van called Polo that serves simultaneously as home, editing suite, music studio and vessel for exploration.
I do not pretend to offer answers.
I simply collect stories, symbols and fragments of beauty along the road, hoping they may help reconnect us with something essential: our sense of wonder.
Like the hummingbird, I am only carrying a few drops of water.
The rest belongs to the viewer.
