Taken (Tinalangan)

Based on an actual occurrence where a young Tobilung man just disappeared in the forest. They say that he ventured to another World where the Bunian/Elf people co-exist with our World.

To get him back, the wife would seek the help of the Tobilung priestesses (Bobolian). The Bobolian will preform a ceremony to search for the lost (Mongintutun) with the help of Komburongoh, a sacred medium used to communicate with the unseen and gods.

Komburongoh is one term but has two meanings. In the context of botany, komburongoh is a type of grass (Acorus Calamus), the Malays call it "jerangau." In the ancient religious context of Dusun, Komburongoh was a medium that connected Bobolian with the spiritual (unseen) realm.

After being found the forest will send him back to where he entered or was taken by the forest spirit. They only return the earthly body but taken the soul. So another ceremony will be preform that is Monoriuk.

The soul is back now they will hold a thanksgiving ceremony with a dance preform by Tobilung dancers accompanied by the gong beat. The dance resembles an eagle movement.

In this modern world, we still require the services of these priestesses (Bobolian). In Sabah Borneo, these priestesses left only a few and if they are gone, the knowledge of the local Kadazan Dusun of Sabah will be buried with them as they are not written.
