Born in Biswanath Chariali, Assam, Himjyoti Talukdar, an MBA by profession, and a deep passion for cinema to craft a unique journey in the world of filmmaking. The journey began in 2016 as the scriptwriter for the children's film 'Marksheet', a project that served as a foundation for a promising career in direction. In 2018, he made a directorial debut with 'Calendar', an Assamese feature film that garnered widespread appreciation for its compelling narrative. Building on this success, his second feature film, 'Taarikh', has recently been completed. Known for weaving strong storytelling with nuanced explorations of Assam's cultural and social fabric, their work resonates with audiences and critics alike. Dedicated to bringing local stories to a broader audience, Himjyoti continues to contribute significantly to the evolving landscape of Assamese cinema.
In "Taarikh," I explore the profound impact of grief and the enduring struggle of a man trapped in the past, unable to move forward. Through Durlov Dutta's poignant journey and Anuran Hazarika's compassionate intervention, the film delves into themes of loss, healing, and the human spirit's resilience. My goal is to evoke empathy and understanding, shedding light on the silent battles many face, and ultimately, to celebrate the power of connection in restoring hope and meaning to life.
