TUONELA
TUONELA, with magnificent Viivi Sjöblom as main performer, is a powerful encounter, a passionate dance an entanglement with Lady Death, coming to us in so many forms, throughout life until a final meeting.
It is a mythical tale of death & birth, surrender & becoming.

Andrea Hackl is an independent visual artist / film maker & choreographer, based in Amsterdam.
She produces films, multidisciplinary performances and explores the format of audio visual installation. Hackl cherishes the alchemy between different disciplines. Having a background in dance & performance, her work embraces a visceral quality and often, the human body, in its presence and poetry, remains a main channel of exploration andf expression.
Her visual & performative work is being presented at festivals world wide; currently touring DREAMER – an interdisciplinary performance project featuring a 2 channel video installation; a poetic journey inspired by Buddhism and the Tao as well as our innate connection to nature, traveling through an organism of live performance and film. It’s a collaboration with the french saxophonist Antoine Viard. DREAMER has won the award for BEST INTERDISCIPLINARY LIVE PERFORMANCE at LensDans Festival Brussels 2023.
Themes of Freedom and Empowerment are central to her work that is often inspired by mythology, Buddhism as well as our intrinsic connection to nature. She often collaborates with musicians in her performances and, while working with an established structure, loves to use improvisation for the power of its immediacy. Hackl has been invited to artistic residencies & performing at festivals worldwide. She enjoys to travel, meet & work with local communities and, equally, to share her practice & exploration in form of training, workshops or masterclasses.
Her short films, eg.: BELE BELTZA, SILENT FRAGMENTS and LIGHT RISING have won awards as BEST FILMS and for BEST PERFORMANCE.. Visual work that she’s produced has been featured in art magazines such a Clic.he and received Honorable Mentions.
