Cass Virdee is a Director who is driven by her desire to tell stories of empowerment, equality and the idea of breaking free from oppression.
Her passion, attention to detail and strong visual sense stems from her background studying at Central Saint Martins and work as an art director. Some of Cassandra’s most recent credits are: The Batman, Indiana Jones 5 and Murder on the Orient Express.
Cass has trained for most of her life as a dancer and has performed on stages including Sadler’s Wells, Royal Albert Hall and Her Majesty’s Theatre. In her short film 'The Skin She Sheds', Cass has fused her passion for dance and dramatic storytelling.
The Skin She Sheds follows Amelia- a gang member who realises she must turn her back on the ideals and ‘family’ she has been inseparable from her whole life.
Telling this story through dance allowed myself and Faye (who plays Amelia) to explore the raw emotion and vulnerability people experience when taking a huge step into the unknown- our character must find her identity and get back agency of her life.
